leaper gasket

this may sound silly i need to replace adhesive gasket under leaper on 2002 vdp,due to heat or weather deterioration.darn thing is loose and the slight gap drives me nuts any adise would be great thanks

i thought i was **** lol. maybe buy a strip of that 3M adhesive tape stuff and cut it to fit. It would stick and close the gap.

Use double-sided trim adhesive, available at any auto parts store and cut it carefully to size.

I replaced my aerial mast on my '88 XJ-S, and I used leather under it for a gasket. I oiled it good so it was soft enough to endure the squeeze, and to waterproof it when the aerial was installed. I think I'd try something like this, or go to a hardware store and get some rubber material similar to the inner tube that is used in a bicycle.
Just cut is a tiny bit smaller than the base of the leaper so that it is not visible, but not too small so that it does not keep water out of your engine bay.
