Shifter plug removal ?
Anyone know how to get this torx bolt/plug out I've tried numerous sizes of bits to no avail. If not what is the part #. I'll just buy another as my replacement used unit did not come with one.

I don't think there is a special tool for this but you can easily make one. The manual says you can use the key (as a kind of flat screw driver) to remove the plug but I haven't tried it (does not seem really possible). A flat screw driver of suitable size can probably do it.
I made my "special tool" out of a Torx bit. I do not now remember its size but its diameter over two opposite peaks is 6.5 mm. All I had to do is grind down a bit (Dremel) the valleys of the Torx to match the actually "non-torx" socket in the plug. I also inserted the bit into a nice handle (a choke knob, leftover from my ex Triumph Stag). https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...23f5224e2b.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...d4165da533.jpg |
Yes & thanks, the engineering with this a bit counter productive for sure.

Anyone have a part # ?!

The part number is CCC5589. My car did not have one when I got it, so I ordered it a few years ago. They are available, or were at that time anyway. A torx bit or the tip of the key works to remove it. |

I removed mine yesterday with a flat headed screwdriver
