Shifter plug removal ?

I don't think there is a special tool for this but you can easily make one. The manual says you can use the key (as a kind of flat screw driver) to remove the plug but I haven't tried it (does not seem really possible). A flat screw driver of suitable size can probably do it.
I made my "special tool" out of a Torx bit. I do not now remember its size but its diameter over two opposite peaks is 6.5 mm. All I had to do is grind down a bit (Dremel) the valleys of the Torx to match the actually "non-torx" socket in the plug. I also inserted the bit into a nice handle (a choke knob, leftover from my ex Triumph Stag).
