Hi. I'm trying to get my 1999 Jaguar XJ8 worked on. This circuit failure is supposedly what's wrong with it but me and my mechanic aren't sure what it means and are trying to do some research on how to fix it. My doors sometimes won't lock or unlock, my accelerator feels like its loose, none of my dash readers work (RPM, speedometer, fuel gauge, thermostat) and my car is displaying different things wrong with it like engine fail safe mode, gearbox failure, gearbox temp high, and incorrect part fitted. If anyone has any information about what this circuit failure means and how I could possible fix it please let me know.

Page 86 on this link: http://jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepa.../jagxj1999.pdf describes the SCP/CAN wiring. SCP- failure means there's a break or disconnect somewhere along the SCP- "U"(blue) wire in that diagram. First thing I'd do is probe conductivity on that wire from various connectors and see where (if) there is a break.

A lot of those messages often occur when the battery is discharged or failing. Check the voltage-12.5 or better yet have it load tested.
