Red face Questions about 88 XJ6 (40) VP?

Hello all, newbie here. I just bought an 88 XJ6 (40) Vanden Plas and I have a few questions.

1.) I noticed that some of the Digital readouts below the manual Speedometer do not light up. The mileage and turn signal indicators come on but not anything else (i.e. the Digital Speedometer, Digital Gearshift indicator, etc.). Would anyone know what could be the cause of this, like a fuse, bulb, etc., because I do get a bulb failure warning when all my exterior and as far as I know, interior, lights work. I know it's not really needed but I would like to have an idea of what the problem could be.

2.) Would a leak in the Windshield Washer Tank cause a Low Washer Fluid warning? I took it to a service garage and they told me the tank has a slow leak.

3.) My AC only blows hot air, even when I have it set to cold. Could this mean it needs recharging or is it something more serious?

Any info will be GREATLY appreciated! I'm a first time Jag owner and I never thought my first car would be a Jaguar! So it really means a lot to me. Outside of some exterior and interior flaws, it runs like a DREAM and I LOVE IT!

Thanks!
Lizzie

1. Mine occassionally cuts out but a quick smack to the housing gets it back up and running.

2. Once it leaks below the sensor level the light would come on

3. Depends, is the compressor cycling, are there a ton of bubbles in the sight glass.

If you are expecting the electrical system (or a/c) to be flawless, boy are you in for a surprise ! This and jaglovers.org are really our therapy groups. I have a new rough idle at red lights and have it down to only 715 things to check-lol. My best advice is to order a Haynes Manual at your local auto store because it's your NEW BEST FRIEND. Welcome, Miss Dash

BTW, if you can't find a used windscreen washer tank at a junkyard, I'd buy J&B weld and fix it. Removing it and submerging in water should show you where it's leaking.
