1985 Jag cylinder head nut Torque?
Hi I am new to the jag World just purchased a 1985 with the 4.2 does anyone know the torque on the cylinder head nuts and the pattern it should be torqued . Thanks for any help.:)
|
Apparently no one knows, or cares, but the answer is in the service manual. The head nuts are torqued from 52 to 54 lbf FT. Give me you email address and I'll send you a diagram straight from the service manuel, showing the torque sequence.

Thanks
Thanks for the info I just got an 85 recently and it is missing 2 of the original nuts .someboby replaced with some cheap locking nuts ..so I was hopen to find a couple of original ones and retorque everything down:)

Their pretty easy to locate. Try David Boger, he posts on this site and everydayxj.com. If you want the diagram, pm me with your email address.

Jim, your killin me with your icon! Every time I look at the double eyes and mouth I get disoriented. Guess it helps being a little off, to own a Jag, and realy crazy to own more than one. :o)

Keith,
Hi, Would you happen to have the service manual for '99 XJ8? If yes, would you send it to terry_bujnak@yahoo.com? |
Sorry, only 85 XJ-6 and 95 XJS
|
Sending an entire service manual would be a pretty long ordeal. Your best be would be to check ebay for one of their service manuals on disk, usally pretty cheap.
|
Terry, you may have already found this, if not, Christo has your manual in a thread here in the General Tech Help.
|
I think his manuals are for the later model cars, not an 88, but might be wrong.
|
You're right Keith, sorry about the misinformation.
