Hello there - I am the world of Jaguars and even newer to this forum. I have done the intro post and as promised I have a couple of questions that I seek some help on please

My new Jag does not have air but it does have the in dash temperature controls so it must have had it at some time. XJ6 Series II 1973 SWB 6 cyl

A local chap is dismantling a 1997 X300 LWB straight 6.

My question is can I swap all the under bonnet (hood) mechanical gear - compressor, mounts, condenser and what ever else - my girl has none of the gear.

Appreciate your response.

 

The X300 cars are significantly different from your Series II. I can't imagine any of the A/C components being a direct-fit to your car. With lots of effort and patience it might be possible to modify and adapt them, I dunno.

No, none of the 1997 items will work for you. You are looking for parts up to 1986 for the XJ6, and some parts up to 1992 on a V12 car. XJS parts will work, such as the interior parts and the compressor, but the compressor mount is different between a 6 cylinder and V12.

That being said, you can get retofit parts that will perform better, such as the compressor and the condensor.
