Morning all,
Anyone have a simple schematic for wiring up daytime running lights (DRL's)? Being in Canada where they have been a requirement for many years, I've noticed that I'm considerably less noticed without them. I know some cars ie. Nissan, had DRL's which operated the High beams at 50% power.

Why not merely drive with the low beams on?
Running the highs at 50% ? A bit wasteful to me. I don't get the logic?
And a resistor? Merely converts volts to heat?
Just me, musing .

I want DRLs myself; perfectly doable. A project a bit further down on my to-do list.
I'm not aware of anyone already having done the job and having a schematic to share, though.
Cheers

Start at a white ignition power wire. Use it as trigger for a relay. Oher leg to brown, always hot. Another color for the other leg to the low beam sockets.
Sophistication A delay relay. Lights remain on post shut down for a short interval!
Voila, ignition on, lows on!
Me, no. If desirable, a darkish day or in the rain, just turn the knb1
Caveat, do not leave it turned when parked.

That's pretty much it, Carl.Originally Posted by JagCad

If desired a person could design the circuit so the DRLs don't operate with the handbrake on or other pre-conditions so that the DRLs don't operate when not needed.
