Default Suncoast conversion question...

Anyone used this kit?? I am currently trying to sort out wiring etc, and its telling me I need a c.33509 neutral safety switch and a dac3844 reverse lamp switch, these both mount in the console, being as mine was a one piece combination setup on transmission itself, i am pretty sure i can just pull the wires up into the console from the tunnel, however my concern is that the inhibit switch for the cruise is installed in the area that I need to install the neutral safety switch, I am assuming I just remove the small metal block that switch is on and simply put new switch in its place, so the switches will be stacked.. am I correct or am I missing something???

From memory, yes, the two switches (cruise inhibit and neutral safety) will be tacked together.

Is your shift quadrant drilled and tapped to accept the early reverse light switch?

More foggy memory......

The wires from the transmission switch enter the cabin thru the floor in a location directly under the climate control case. I'm not so sure you can easily access the area to pull them thru

Cheers
DD

Thanks Doug.

The kit actually comes with a machined and threaded boss to put in the hole in the shift quadrant to scrre the backup light switch into..

Two ways:

1. As you suspect. remove the "spacer" insert micro switch.

2. Swap in an XJS shift tower. Reverse lampo switch in placce and the inhibit as well.

My lump enjoys the latter...

And please don't use wiring nuts meant for home electrical work in your car.
Houses are rather stationary, cars are quite the opposite.

Solder or sleeveless crimp connectors, wrapped in heat shrinking is the best bet for getting a good connection and also doing your due diligence to try and prevent an electrical fire.

Haha, my car is riddled with wire nuts and crimp on splicers.. replacing them has been an ongoing project over the past 13 years!!!! Everytime I open up something I find more..., hadnt seen one in a few months until I opened up console, there are 4 or 5 down in there. Will all be gone before i close that area back up...

Ugh haha, mine too. I ended up cutting the entire wiring harness out of the car and redoing it, the previous owner botched the engine conversion and had a tendency to start electrical fires with their shitty wiring.

Good luck to you, i know that battle all too well.
