Decent 15" rubber is getting harder to find these days so I decided to switch to some 16" XJ40 series wheels as a poor man's upgrade.

I know some of the XJ40s came with 215-60-16 and even 225-60-16 tires. I wonder if anyone has these size tires on their Series III? There are some used 235-60-16 tires I can get cheaply but again I wonder if anyone has had success with this size.

Speaking of rubber, can anyone give a good recommendation for tire brand for the Series-III in the 16" size?

 

I've seen a couple Ser IIIs with 215/60x16 rubber....looked just right, IMHO.

Lots of choices in that size....Tire Rack has 88 choices from ordinary to high performance. What attributes mean most to you? Long life? Quietness? Cornering response? Wet traction?

I've been happy with the original P4000 that I ran on the 15" rims. I guess they make a P6 in the 16" size. Not sure if it is as stiff as the old P4000 was. Maybe Michelin has something comparable in the 16" size?
