Hi i purchased a 1995 XJS i have owned XJ8 and XK8 before this purchase so this is a new experience for me. I need to put a new set of tires on the car, the size calls for 225/60 16 although it appears i can also use 225/55/16. Any recomendations? i am thinking Pirelli P6 or Michelin Pilots.....

 

What characteristics are you most concerned about in a tire? Wet traction? Dry traction? Comfort? Noise level? Tread life?

I just installed my second set of BF Goodrich Advantage (225/60x16) on my XJR and am very pleased. Great all-round tire, quiet, V-rated, good traction wet/dy, good (not outstanding) steering response, got 41k from the last set.

And only about $106 each :-)

While we are on the subject, what pressure are you using in your tires? I checked mine today all 4 were at 50lbs. I took them down to 33 front 36 rear. There was a little vibration on the highway though. Pressure label isn't on the door of my vehicle.

 

I run 34/34 in mine, FWIW

BTW, the pressure label might be in the glovebox or in the center console cubby
