Default DB7 Upgrade Parts and XJR-S IRS

Hi all,

I went to visit the garage yesterday where they are finishing off the manual conversion of my XJR-S. While she was up on the ramp I've had a really good look round underneath, and while she's in pretty good shape there are several things that I will need to do in the next couple of years.

The highest priority will be to remove the rear IRS to complete several jobs, rusted brake lines, leaking diff (cover?) So I've a number of questions that as an XJS newbie i'd like some help with.

Firstly - Diff ratio. With my new 5 speed gertrag box fitted and the current 2.88 in the back I think I have a good mixture of acceleration\cruising, but what other diffs are available (more biased toward acceleration) that would still give decent cruising at 70\80 mph?

Next - My plan is to purchase an IRS with outboard brakes and send this to the garage for refurbishment, but on talking to the garage there are a few options. Rear brakes - do the DB7 brakes fit straight on? I was looking to fit vented at the rear, if not what are the options? Also, what other DB7 parts are an upgrade?

I found these from a v12 vantage, and again assume they fit straight on, well hope so as I've just purchased them..

Lastly, ride\handling. Any advice here? I understand from several forum members that the HBE rear anti roll bar is well worth fitting, but has anyone fitted this? What are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Rich

Alders fitted DB7 springs, V mounts and radius arm bushes to mine. With the latter the XJR-s had the large bushes turned 90 degrees compared to the standard ones although I have heard comments that the ride can be jittery but I haven't found that.
It is hard to state if there is a definitive difference because replacing knackered components with new ones is bound to make a huge difference, regardless of what spec they are; this is my 5th XJS (please, make it stop!) and the first one that I have had with new suspension bits on.
Having said that mine sticks to the road like bird poop to a window; there is a small loss of 'grace' but a much firmer feeling (not harsh though).
Bear in mind that Astons weren't known for their teeth shattering ride so as an upgrade I think that it works well.

Christmas is nearly here

I have a spare axle with rear brakes and all the handbrake cables
Comes with speed sensor and also the dash.

Aston is here is well !

Let me know if you are interested in the rear axle- not the car.
Axle ratio is 3.54:1 LSD which would give you better acceleration.
Axle ratios can be had right up to 4.55:1 but 3.54 is a good balance.
