Two part question... Why is my highbeam dimly lit like a ghost despite high beams not being on, and does anyone here have a recommended supplier for those nice bright LED dash lights. It's getting abit dark here as you can see.

The Clutching Relay, the one that has Hella stamped on it, is cross feeding internally, but that is 2nd to BAD EARTHS.

 

Hmm, I already grounded the dash with a nice thick wire and cleaned contacts.

 

Search for 'T5 LED", you'll find them in many places, I got a handful from eBay.

 

The cluster illumination lights are T10, but I found that replacing them with LED's still wasn't enough. I ended up gluing strip LED's around the outside of the gauges.

 

One or both high beams?

Safe bet is Grant is right suspecting the latching relay. Sticking on unlatching likely. Switch it a bunch. No joy? Open it up. It’s dead simple and well made, easily serviceable.

If you manage to kill it, like by shorting the stalk momentary high beam switch on continuously, they are not cheap nor plentiful. Newer versions are available, different pin patterns. Breakers on eBay will sell you one for a stout kick in the wallet.

 

High beams work, just the light is slightly on. Its dimmer in person than the photo would have you believe.
