Default jaguar xjs 3.6 convertible

Hi all im looking for a little info if anyone can help. Ive bought a 1989 jaguar xjs 3.6 full convertible and im wondering if anyone knows how rare they are or how many of them were done and how many are left. Ive only ever really seen convertibles in a v12 or ive seen 3.6 part convertibles like a targa top etc but never a 3.6 full convertible. Can anyone share some info on this by anychance ?

Well firstly its not an original Jaguar convertible, someone has chopped the roof off and made it one. I'm not sure if its a rare RHD Hess and Eisenhard of America conversion but it does look like one.

Not so sure...H&E's don't have that little trianglar body panel where the bottom of the hood/roof meets the rear side window...and this is a RHD '89, too late. Weird header over the windshield makes me think it might me a bespoke conversion. What does the VIN say? I cant say I've ever seen a 3.6 full convertible either. Nice colours--love that hood in red!

vinny jones,

As mentioned, its not a factory convertible. The giveaways are the header rail and the quarterlight front windows. Also by 89 the factory convertible was in production with its single-pane door windows.

There were a couple of companies doing conversions of Coupes, even after Jaguar started producing their own convertibles.

That reg plate is familar? Something makes me think it might be one of the cars converted by Lynx?
