XJS DIY Lesson 1
2 Attachment(s)
Just because parts look identical doesn't mean that they are.
So I picked up my XJS because I always wanted on and I also wanted to do as much of the necessary work as I could myself (I have limited experience at best). I decided the best place to start would be to replace the map light switches because one of the wasn't working. I thought that this would be an easy "confidence boosting" project. I found an identical looking switch on the web; purchased it and eagerly awaited it's arrival. Today it arrived and I eagerly removed the old. Imagine my surprise when I realized that although the switches appeared identical, the connectors were different. So much for confidence. I have attached photos of the 2 connectors. Is there an adapter I can use between them or will my first project include rewiring the harness? Suggestions? Thanks |
There will not be an adaptor, or most likely room for oner. i think it best to either splice the wires to the correct connector or send a pic of the switch and connector type you need to Grublogger in the UK (who will surely have one) for the correct switch, if you cannot find one in a USA scrapyard.

Thanks. I think I'll likely splice the wires. Am I correct in my assumption that as long as I match the colors it will work?

That would be my GUESS..but thats all it would be.
Here are some electrical diagrams that may help... Jaguar electrical reference Chances are that someone with more knowledge than I will be along to help Good luck |
Maybe I've missed something, but.....
Why not return the *incorrect* switch and purchase the *correct* switch? Cheers DD |
Sale is final.
