07 XKR traction control
I've have come to realize traction control is my friend, especially since I spooled up $1,400.00 worth of Bridgestone Blizzaks. However when I put the Pirellis back on this spring I would like to have the option to turn my traction control off if I so desire. My traction control is either on or if I disengage just sort of off. How do I turn off completely the manual seems vague on this. Thank you in advance for your time.

Not sure on the earlier cars but on my 2011 press and hold the DSC for 10 seconds and it will show TRAC OFF

DSC OFF, DYNAMIC ON, and SPORT are about the only options to choose. I suppose there is a fuze somewhere you could pull, but I don't know offhand which one.

It must be possible. In the first top gear / Jeremy Clarkson test of the 4.2 XKR he clearly had it turned off. Seems unlikely he would have pulled the fuse with out complaining about it it?

Andy and timmah! are correct.
It's on page 166 of the manual. Press and hold the DSC switch for less than three seconds cycles between Trac DSC or DSC On. Press and hold DSC switch for more than three seconds to turn off. Message center will temporarily display DSC OFF and a warning chime will sound. The warning light on the instrument cluster will illuminate. Press and release DSC switch to turn back on. Haven't tried it without traction yet, waiting for spring and my 20" Summer tires back on the car. |
I enjoy the car in the winter... and as I find DSC 'counter-intuitive' and annoying, I press the button for 10s, too. Everytime.

I haven't tried to reef on it with trac Off but it seems pretty well behaved, but its much better when the diff is functioning normally:)
Its a lot of torque if want to be stupid you can! I did standing start donuts on dry tarmac no problem, huge amount of smoke, if I'd done more than 4 I think the local fire dept might have shown up :) |
I'll have to give it a shot on the way home, Just got a lite dusting so time to have a little fun, traffic permitting of course ;)

The thing I'm wondering is whether or not turning off traction/DSC cuts off the ABS as well.

That was fun but the manual is wrong about 3 seconds.
I had to hold it down for at least 10. |
It might depend on the age of the car. Here's what the later user manuals say:
SWITCHING DSC OFF Press and hold the DSC switch for more than 10 seconds (3 seconds for XKRS vehicles). SWITCHING BETWEEN DSC AND TRAC DSC Press and hold the DSC switch for less than 10 seconds (3 seconds for XKRS vehicles). NOTE: On early vehicles, the press-and-hold requirement was 3 seconds. TracDSC increases the thresholds before traction & yaw control kick in, DSC Off disables both features. However, I believe that other stability-control features, like Cornering Brake Control, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Engine Drag-Torque Control and Understeer Control stay active - the workshop manual doesn't say they're disabled when DSC is off. |
Mine is the original 07 manual that came with the car and it does say 3s but it took 10s or more for the DSC to turn off.
Maybe the XKR or XKRS is different but the safest bet it just hold it down till the information display says DSF OFF and the little car with the skid mark lights up in the speedo. |

The R-S mentioned is the 5.0 model, not the 2008. For TracDSC: I don't have a earlier manual than 2009, and that also states 10s. I think this is with the DSC turned off.
