The airbag light on my 2008 XKR Coupe is constantly on and according to the dealer, the passenger seat belt assembly needs to be replaced for a whopping $1,000! Has anyone every had this seat belt assembly rebuilt before? Any other suggestions to get this working properly again?

It just seems like a crazy amount of money for the the seat belt assembly.

The car has never been in an accident, the light just decided to appear a few times and is now constantly lit.

The sensor and emergency pre-tensiopner is in the buckle...so that is probably what is defective. The part is about $215 from an online dealer: Genuine Jaguar OEM Factory Parts sold at Wholesale Prices | GaudinJaguarParts.com

Some Jag dealers mark up parts 2x list and charge around $200 /hour labor, so you can see where your quote comes from.

Be sure to call them with your VIN for a correct interior color match and verify you get one for the correct seat. If you do not want to do it yourself, find and independent mechanic.

 

Thanks for the info. It doesn't look like the job is too difficult. I also found a place online that repairs the seat buckle units and I have sent them an email to see if they can help.
