Default Hood strut removal on XK150 - RESOLVED

Hi All,

My hood no longer stays up on its own, so I'm guessing the hood struts are faulty. I looked at the instructions for the removal of them, but can anyone give me more details on how to remove them as it does not look that obvious to me. See attached pdf for the exact part I am referring to. Any advice greatly received.

Joe

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X150 forum. This is the place to post technical questions on your model.

If it wasn't I'd go and have a look at mine but I'll leave it to someone in the sunshine.

Unless you need to use the OEM Jaguar part, why pay more? I just replaced the OEM Honda lift supports on my wife's MDX with inexpensive aftermarket supports. It was super easy, they work great, and I saved a lot of money.

Here's how to do it. It should take you less than 5 minutes. Good luck!

Takes about thirty seconds per side to change these things.

When I did mine a couple of years ago, I ordered inexpensive aftermarket ones, (I think they were about $20 a piece), and as CeeJay said, it took about 30 seconds per side to install.

Thanks everyone - struts now changed - and yes, it took about 30 seconds :-)
