I finally figured out how to roll down the rear windows on my coupe!!!

I have no idea why Jaguar decided to hide the rear window buttons, but check it out with the windows down! I like it!

I made a video that shows where the button is located. Here it is.

(And by "button" I mean "bolt")

Reverend Sam 07-06-2019 04:07 PM

In all seriousness... Jaguar should have put some sort of latch there, rather than a bolt. That entire video is one minute long, and half of it was me taking and pointing. I can take BOTH windows out in less than a minute now they I know how to do it.

Sam, you REALLY need to get different wheels. Those ones just don't look right on your car. You can always give the old rear wheels to me, I'd take them off your hands. I'll even pay for shipping.

I like it! THANKS!!

Pretty cool. I recall my XKE coupe window had a latch that would allow you to fold out the window about 3-4 inches.

Very very nice Sam and thank you for this!

Methinks you get it slightly warmer there in NC than we do in the UK :(

I need to take my rears out due to visible dust in between the glass and the rubber, with your method I can see an easy solution.

Would you kindly care to now design and market a padded carrybag for the two window glasses once removed? :)

Thanks for the info! Good to know

I can't find the thread now but someone did this on the forum a few year ago and also created a black template to cover up the the exposed trim towards the rear of the opening.

It's just a rubber seal. It pulls right out and snaps back in (with a little coaxing).

Yep, simple looking thing and I don't understand why they didn't make them lower.

Will be interested to hear from Sam how that sounds and feels driving at highway speed.

Exactly--the dust trapped around the weather stripping looks pretty cruddy on my car. Thanks for the video--I had no idea the windows came out at all, let alone so easily.

I didn't mean that bit. I haven't taken the window out to see what it looks like but I think he made a template to match the blacked out bit to the rear of the glass because I assume you can see the trim and or metal work otherwise.

From 2013

I trimmed a piece of carbon fiber to fill the area. It just stays there even when the glass is in...
