Hummmm... Somethings missing....
Gettin' ready for those summer days!
BTW, if the thumbs don't open to a new tab and 1024x768 images, you need to read this thread.

Rear glass slides out after removing one bolt.
Leaves a body panel exposed, so I made a template and cut a carbon fiber sheet to fit.
The glass slides right back in, covering the CF piece.
I kinda like it and may pursue it further, like a Naugahyde pouch to hold both pieces of glass in the trunk when removed....

Just found this out too
I just found this out too when I finally removed the drip molding to get it painted gloss black.
I actually found the bolt insert on one side was broken (probably by the tint guy a couple years ago) but with the front window up its totally secure from theft and when the window is down the doors weather stripping holds in place.
If no one sits in the back of your car the pouches on the back side of the seat could make a good holder.

Interesting, my drivers side was broken as well....
Other things bother me, and and I need to put more thought into it....
First, pulling the glass out one time, I let the back end dip down and it clip the window trim as well as thump the paint.... No damage done, but it alerted me that R&R required care or I could find myself very angry at my impatience.
Second is that although you can hold the glass in place without the bolts, IF they were to creep forward enough with the door window down, you have to potential of getting out, thinking "wait a minute" while you roll up your glass, then slam it closed on the piece... A big "if" to be sure, but the thought of the repercussions sends shivers down my spine.
Third is the bug damage to the interior at the back of the rear window.... Could it be kept clean of splattered guts?
Finally, what about air pressure inside the cabin? Could it be enough on the lift-back glass to make it pop out? (Wouldn't that be fun to see in your rear view mirror as it departed your car!)
The car feels fine driving it this way, with no interior buffeting. In fact, not having that edge there next to your ear makes wind noise significantly less inside, which is really nice...
As I said, my attempts are still exploratory, but I see potential.

I'm going to postulate, for the sake of mental exercise, that the cabin pressure will actually be lower by virtue of Bernoulli's principle.

Pre-existing damage
Vince, did you buy you Jag new? Maybe the tint guy didn't break mine and it was like this from the factory!?!
In another thread I mention taking out the interior trim and breaking 2 tabs, interestingly enough when gluing the tabs back together I noticed other tabs had been glued together already. Since there has been no interior work done to the car I have to assume this was done during assembly or at the dealer to change the trim to match the purchase order.
I looked up the bolt insert for the rear glass and unfortunately you have to buy the entire glass with the bolt insert attached. $180 roughly from Gaudin.
I do wish these were retractable like in the merc and BMW 6 series coupes.

Highly doubt it left the factory that way, but it may point out a stress flaw in the part or mounting?
Time, and others experiance will tell us more.
