Default I'm back! Daily driver now: Coolant temp error, Key, Screen

Hi there. I must admit, it's many months since I was in this forum, but what can I say, life's busy, and the 2007 XKR has just been running and running and running

But things have changed. It used to be my nice weather car, but I sold my daily driver in December, so currently the XKR is my daily driver. Yes I clean it often...

But daily driving has given me some problems. I list them all in one thread, hope that's ok, answer what you can

1
Just had a 1200km drive to Germany, on winter tires, no faster than 160km/h. On the way home I got the Check Engine Light after filling on washer fluid, but it ran fine. Today I put my tester on it, tonnes of error messages, cleared them all and redid engine running. Now one significant error P0116-24 Engine coolant temperature - circuit range /performance (it's -4C outside). Turned it off, then it wouldn't start and display says (translated by me) Error in engine temperatur reading. Fiddled a bit with the tester, not sure what I did, and then it would start. But I still get that message in the display. And even stranger, I have a OBD2 connected digital coolant temperature gauge installed permanently, and that read normal temperatures, 52C after 5 min idling. That gauge reads the same as the computer I would guess???
Any ideas?

If a bit low on battery the center screen just shows Jaguar or the Clock. It fixes itself after driving quite a bit and stop/start. Nothing you can do besides wait and drive? No magic buttons to push?

3
Keys, the one I used most, I keep getting Low Battery warning even with new battery. The other remote works fine. The first remote, the buttons work, so it's only the constant signal that's weak? Should I get another? Can I just Ebuy one, and code myself, or is it an expensive dealer thing?

Thanks

Hi No Quarter welcome back

1. could be battery voltage or could be thermostat. If stat is jammed open then you can get alarm of engine taking too long to reach temperature

2. check battery voltage. Typically all of these could be low battery voltage.

3. Try changing batteries again in the suspect remote. And also check the contacts to the battery are connecting solidly

sounds very cold over there and not car tinkering weather

If you're getting the Jag screen regularly, the capacity of your battery is starting to degrade. And it goes from marginal to forgetaboutit very quickly. Especially at cooler temperatures.
The battery capacity is an integral part of the car electronics systems. And think of the generator as a "maintainer" not a "charger".
If you change the battery, then re-read codes, don't be surprised if the number of thrown codes decreases.
And welcome to the club. She's not my daily driver, but she handles the winter, even light snow and ice covered roads, very well. Even at -25.
And every now and again, with the sea sucker roof rack, skis in place, head to the hills just to see other's faces.

On 1, did a test trip, and as Woo5ie suggested, it took long time to get to working temp. For now I've ordered new thermostat and sensor, and will let us know if that helps

Today it was -11C this morning. I slowly drove around this area for 7 to 8 minutes. The temp gets to 70C. Then only on the highway will the temp slowly climb to 92C.
Last year I cracked the thermostat housing and changed to a Dorman housing with thermostat and temp sensor. Also converted to a waterless coolant to reduce pressure in the system. I think your sensor or thermostat is defective. Could be just the temp sensor in the same housing. $13.

I installed new temp sensor and thermostat. I believe it goes faster up to 88C now, and CEL is gone. So I consider it solved for now. Thanks
