Lesson learned! New member into

Hi all. I’m glad I found this forum. My story; I drove a 2007 XK coupe for over 8 years and then in 2017 I sold it and bought a BMW. Not too sure what made me do that, but I came to realize I am not a BMW guy. So last week I bought a 2013 Black XK convertible with only 20k miles. It feels so good to be back!

I used to be a BMW guy before Bangle years. I don't understand why people keep buying them. Vanos. Rod Bearings. Just eek. By comparison JLR make very reliable cars.

Welcome! I am loving the 2010 XKR that I got. Could not be more happier.

As a recovering BMW and Mercedes owner, I can say that there really is no car like a Jaguar (in all sorts of good ways)...of course, owning a Jag you have to contend with the popular truthiness of comments like this (verbatim) from a BMW owner who admired my F-Type: "I have always loved the way Jaguars look but I've been told that they break down for no reason in the middle of nowhere". Verbatim...sigh...Glad you are back in the fold, James.

I owned 2 E38s, a 95 740i and a 01 750iL. I still think they are one of the best looking large german sedans, up there with the W126 S-Class. Then the Bangle E65/66 came out and my opinion, and a lot of others, was that it was a big step back stylistically; not to mention they have a lot of problems, not that the E38 was trouble free though.

I own an X3 now and the endorsement is, "it has AWD and was 4k". My first repair has been their trash plastic cooling system parts, then emissions related parts. It's not that I don't expect work on a cheap car, but you could literally plan when garbage designed parts would fail as they are generally pain points on every instance of the model. Not that I know anything about design faults on a Jaguar product, but it seems you can actually permanently fix them versus it seems stuff like the V10 M5s are permanently flawed cars.

Try my LR2 with the Duratracs and compare it to the X3.
Related, I did try the F-Pace (name?) for a while... not my thing.

I've had my ups and downs with BMWs (I've had six) and can agree with many of the statements above. The engineering that goes into their M cars is pretty formidable though--I wish my XK had brakes like an M4 or M6 has, for example.

Welcome into the fold!

I love BMW especially the classics and the M cars.

I love my 2006 XKR with upgraded exhaust, rear lights, rear diffuser and rear spoiler but my 335d is still a great car with similar performance, very reliable and extremely versatile as a family car.

I would recommend both and would not replace either.

I bet the Land Rover is leagures better but the $4000 X3 beat out my X308 for winter drivability though lol. I really like the 4.2 and 5L SC Range Rovers. I may give the X3 to my dad to replace the Murano which he drives. I own the NIssans for them to drive and that Murano is getting up to near 200k miles and starting to rust out; and this BMW has only 110k and is cosmetically excellent.

Important thing to the OP though, lets see some pictures of your new X150!
