Default Nav/Audio system stopped working

Got in the car this morning to head to Jaguar dealer over in St Louis (40 miles away) for some follow up warranty work left over from my last visit and the LCD screen displayed the Jaguar and none of it's functions worked.

Good timing since I was headed to the dealer, but does any one have an idea what is wrong with my car???

Two trips to the dealer in 10 days and two days of vacation to cover my absence from work is starting to wear thin.

Default This happened to me...

This happened with me after they replaced a door module. They just did a hard reboot (disconnected the battery) and has been fine since.

Spoke with the dealer, they tell me there's a "know software glitch" that requires them to wipes the Nav/Audio HU and re-load all new software. It takes about 4 hours. So they are keeping the car over night to finish the software update.

I hope the age old jokes about Jaguar's electrical system are not still haunting the new FORD Jaguars.

Yes, according to the dealer it should have taken about 4 hours to wipe and reload all the HU's software, but for some reason it kept timing out. So thay had to keep the car over night.

I was surprised that I didn't loose my Sat radio connection, FM stations or any Vehicle preferences. I did have to re-pair my phone though.

I pressed him for details like does this new software improve anything and he said he'd didn't know. But everything is working.

I'm still uncomfortable with not know what went wrong, what the fix fixes and can this happen again? I can't imagine how much this would have cost me out of warranty.

Lucas' may still be lurking in our Jaguars only now in the form of bits and bytes.
