The New Jaguar XK - The full story (circa 2006)
I managed to get my hands on Jaguar's original media information booklet that I assume was circulated in 2006 to both the media and dealerships. It's actually a 48 page high quality hardback book with a media information CD. I've attached a couple of pics of some interesting images and content.
1. XK MARKET PLACE - Note the write up on the typical XK driver/owner
2. Original design sketches. Is it just me or do these look more like sketches of the new F type
3. The paragraph on the functionality of the touch screen intrigues me. I don't think this feature made it into the production cars. Certainly not my 2007 XK.
Anyhow interesting reading.

OK I was a bit dumb taking photos of the pages when I could access the files on the CD ROM. Attached is a pdf of all the text and a couple of images of the XK in a slide. I particularly like these as its the same car as my own and it's the XK not the XKR.

I was interested to read this:

I knew the chassis/body was pretty much the same for the coupe and convertible, and that a roof was added to the body by welding (on the C-pillar, I believe). But does this mean that the XK coupe's roof actually does not provide any additional rigidity because it is cosmetic? Or am I reading this wrong? (I'm probably understanding it wrong, because otherwise the coupe would require ROPS as well...)

The coupe is indeed stiffer; the roof weld is located just aft of the rear hatch opening. The roof is not cosmetic and is therefore structural in nature.
This fact was clearly shown in the Speed Channel's presentation of the Jaguar XK's Aluminum. production line.
