Should I keep my '08 XKR with 65K miles?
There are lot more success stories. A 4.2 R feels and drives like a $90k car. Impossible to find similar finish and performance unless you spend a lot more money. If you like 4.2 X150's, consider an 08-09 NA. Simpler, few things to go wrong. That was my original goal. Found my 07 XKR and pretty much bought it on the sport. Best car I've ever owned.
A 5.0 or F type is also going to have potential rubber/electrical/old car problems. LOL forget the F if you're tall or want to drive for more than 30 minutes.
Drive an older high performance Jaguar? Careful maintenance, store out of sun, budget for known problems and enjoy the ride.

F Type is super fun and attractive. If you are elderly , be prepared to be bounced around. Very hard ride as it’s a sports car. Problems will arise and you need an experienced mechanic. Any Jaguar is a love hate relationship and I’m personally still in love. When you’ve had enough you’ll be wanting to get rid of the Jag as fast as possible. But…… you will miss the exhilaration and looks you got from it. If you go Asian you’ll be secure in your travels. But you won’t forget the fun you had with the Jag. A few poor souls did not keep up with preventive service such as changing all cooling pipes and oil regularly and suffered blown engines. Those are the minority. You can’t have it both ways. Jags are not Toyotas. Good luck with you decision. FYI….. a newer Jag is not necessarily a more reliable one.
It depends. Is the suspension original or has it been overhauled? Are the cooling hoses (including the pipe under the SC) original? If most of the subsystems that need attention have been dealt with, your odds are good. It's a pretty realiable car if well cared for. The way to be sure is to let the statistics work for you. Buy 100 4.2 litre XKRs, do responsible maintenance on all of them and at least 90 will be trouble free.

Your valued opinion varies somewhat than mine..
At 6-1..do not fit in car well, very tight, uncomfortable.
As for the ride, hopefully you have no prostate issues as the ride is quite harsh and bumpy.
The Jag dealer gave us one for a week , sat in the garage, drove it once..
Huge disappointment compared to the XK.
I thought new redesigned cars were to be better.
It was less enjoyable than my 73 E-type, which my daughter said was sooo smooth she was impressed.
Just my opinion, others may love it....like an air cooled Porsche.
Try being 6’3, longer on the torso side.
I first went for an 06 x100 but top of the windscreen was level with my eyebrows.

For starters, I’m not a fan of pouring money into car repairs, routine maintenance is fine, but I’d rather not bankroll major fixes. My car is a beautiful midnight black, nearly flawless with no accidents or noticeable scratches and the interior is in excellent condition. When I bought it about two years ago, I invested in a comprehensive (and not cheap) 60,000-mile service. From day one in my possession, it's always driven like new.
That said, there’s always a little voice in the back of my head asking, “When is something major going to go south?” I know there are just as many horror stories out there as there are owners who swear by their trouble-free experience. So the question is: Should I hang on to this car and keep enjoying it, or start looking for a newer model, say an XKR or F-Type with low miles?

Or get an EV...
I won't sell my 2008 XKR-S ever, I don't want anything newer, it's just perfect as it is
Hilarious!!
The problems you are having are nothing to do with the Jaguar - a 2008 XKR is using the 4.2 V8 which is one of the best engines Jaguar made, as long as you look after it you should be treated just fine, expect the occasional big bill and electric gremlins or get a newer vehicle which probably will be less reliable and have far more complexity to deal with..

There is NOTHING out there comparable to the XK with its styling and ride..
Before I bought this one, my 3rd, contemplated a Maserati.. Yes.. I was drinking!!
Ironically the ‘79 flavor of the 308 GTS (not GTSi) is next up to be added to the garage queen collection.
I’ve seen a few in BaT, but not ready until spring and none were the spec I wanted.
Also, I’ll have to do this:
Also, the e-type is way way cooler than the 308 GTS.
But also a whole different price point fully restored and functional.
The Jag is better than the Maserati, I know because Ben Barry drove a 2008 XKR-S Vs a Granturismo S back in 2008 and the transmission of the Maser borked up on the test run, Ben said to get something better than the Jag you need a V12 599 GTB. Forget Maserati, BMW, Aston Martin and Bentley.

That's why I'm not going to sell mine, in ten years time I am pretty much sure these will be vastly more expensive than they cost now, I've seen a few 2008 XKR-S models sold in England and they are going up, the market is already flat and a bargain for anyone who wants one of these beasts designed by Mike Cross and David Pook and not idiots saving climate change with useless bricks.

I don’t retire for 4 more years. Have 2 in college and 1 left that just started HS.
But with 1 kid left, off went the nifty sedan and it was time.
Looked at the 911, SL550, SL63AMG, Infinity Qxx, Lexus, all verts.
The Jag was the only choice.
So, with that, outside of rims…. Twinsies!
