SOLVED - SOLUTION for Sticky, gummy, "soft touch" buttons
My 2013 XJL had sticky button syndrome. I put some Goof Off brand adhesive remover on a cloth and tested to make sure it would not remove any lettering. Much to my surprise and it released the gummy coating!
Top Tip, use a plastic credit card to gently scrape the gummy stuff off. It works like a charm and I cleaned off all buttons and areas coated with this crud.
Best of luck and Aloha!

I used a spray can of "tuner cleaner *" on my XK8 to alleviate sticky buttons. I haven't really experienced any on my XK (yet), but at 10 years of age, I know that malady will show up eventually.
I'm shocked the Goof Off / GooGone stuff didn't strip the lettering, etc. That stuff is STRONG.
* yes, they still sell tuner cleaner. I purchased some as recently as a year ago.

I have several cans of that also, I use it all the time. Gotta be careful with it on plastic parts, some plastics melt from it.
