Default Tire not monitored!

So, I'm driving home from Palm Desert last night and about 30 minutes into the trip home the tire symbol starts flashing on the dash, and I figured I must have run over a nail or the like and that I've lost air pressure in one of the tires. I didn't feel any telltale signs of a flat, but to be safe, I start to head toward the next exit with a gas station so that I can stop and check. As I look more closely there is a message in red saying "Tire not monitored" below the flashing yellow tire symbol. This goes on for a few minutes as I get closer to the exit, then the yellow tire warning stops flashing and becomes constant, and then just as quickly, everything disappears and goes back to normal. I drove home another 2 hours and no other hiccups.

Has anyone else had this experience, a faulty tire sensor or what?

Faulty sensor (in the wheel) or faulty initiator (in the wheel arch), by the sound of it. May just be an intermittent problem.

Ted - I had this problem for several months last year. as a matter of fact I posted on it in different then current thread. I think the problem is resolved now after having the wheel sensors, initiator(s) and antennas replaced by Hornburg. The antennas are immediately behind the bumper covers placed up relatively high on the bumpers and according to Hornburg they are light weight and generally fragile. Hornburg thought the filament(s) got damaged and pafrted and then rubbed together for a while repeatedly. Ended up replacing the antennas.

Suggest you either have your dealer or and Indie take a look at the situation. Haven't heard from you regarding Sonoma and the Driving Academy. I'm leaving here on Wednesday to drive up there. Are you going?

Hi Ralph,
Thanks for the info. So far that is the only time it has happened, and it has not repeated.

I wish I could go up north, but I am under a severe deadline on two projects that have to be finished within the next week, and I just can't get away.

I hope you have a blast. When you get back, let's get together, I'd love to hear about what you did and how you enjoyed it.
