XKR-S Seats?
Good Day All:
We are picking up the new-to-me XK-R Friday. Now where can I find a set of used black XKR-S seats? Feff |
They pop up on eBay from time to time or breakers sites. Also the Ftype performance seats will
fit too. Depending on which seats your car has now, you may also have to change the seats controls on the door cards as there are fewer adjustments available on these. |
F-Type seats don't have the feature to tip forward for rear seat access like you need in an XK.
Also if you do swap the whole seat some programming is needed for the airbag system. |

Thank you for the input on the seats.
Well, the whole damn deal on the XK-R went south when we arrived at the Jaguar dealer. Turns out there was corrosion (bubbling paint) where the passenger side rear hatch hinge meets the roof. Seems they conveniently forgot to mention that. VIN: SAJWA4DC0AMB37571 An expensive day away from my practice, 5 hour drive (x 2 to come home), hotel/meals, etc. and not even a kiss. I expect this from some corner wholesaler, but not from a major Jaguar dealer. Feff |

Just Google the VIN...
Pre-Owned 2010 Jaguar XK for sale in Chicago, IL | Jaguar USA $29k for 47k miles basic black coupe with ACC and different wood trim. Real pity the dealer couldn't afford any larger than 640 x 400 pictures... |
ACC Standard Equipment Only For 2010
I'm pretty sure that the only model year that Adaptive Cruise Control was standard equipment on all X150 models was 2010, when the 5.0L engine was introduced.

Here's the corrosion they "missed" on the XK-R.
|
That's nasty.

I had a similar issue on my vert when I picked it up. Bubbled on both sides at the vert's fender where top clam shell meets. I hadn't notice until well after getting it home but was able to have it fixed at a paint shop for about $300. A couple "fly-by-night" shops wanted upward $1100 to fix but I found a pro shop that was honest in the end. Can't even tell it was repaired!
Maybe ask if they'll fix.....who knows? |
Take 2: Heading to Detroit to pick up a low mileage (28K) black, 2010 XK-R. Owner guarantees me there are no surprises. Fingers crossed!

Toes too! Good luck.

Hopefully the second time’s a charm...good luck!

The dealer did have VIN: SAJWA4DC0AMB37571 repaired and sent me very detailed photos of the progress. They even guaranteed the paint repair for my ownership tenure, but wife noted "That car hasn't been loved" and highly encourage me NOT to buy it.
This second choice is nearly 1/2 the mileage and the seller is a fellow car nut. Patience does pay off. Now to track down a set of black XKR-S front seats. Feff |

feffman,
Have you thought about just having the seats re-upholstered to the style you want as opposed to purchasing XKR-S seats. It would probably be less expensive and could ultimately be personalized to your taste. Recently, I wanted to change the poor seating in my '72 De Tomaso Pantera, update it, add some bolstering and some color flair, so I purchased a set of C4 Corvette seats (the only ones narrow enough to fit in the Pantera), had them stripped, purchased leather, and designed how I wanted them, and my upholsterer did both of them. Below are pictures of seats that were like mine when I bought them on ebay, and then pictures of how they look now. Total price including the seats, leather, and labor was under $1500.00. You wouldn't need to purchase the seats, but could customize yours rather easily. See the difference below: Before: https://www.ebay.com/itm/95-96-CORVE...MAAOSwYxBaCmbm After: |
