Have you thought about just having the seats re-upholstered to the style you want as opposed to purchasing XKR-S seats. ......

It's the sport nature of the XKR-S seats I like. More aggressive look than the XK-R seats, not rush just a thought.

After driving from Detroit to St. Louis yesterday, it's hard to argue the the XK-R seats though. Infinitely adjustable.

OH, and the car just eats miles.

I believe the XKR-S type seats are called the Performance Seat option in the XKR. They seem to have been more of a standard in the 2013-2015 MY XKR. The big difference is the standard XKR seats are heated and cooled where the performance seat is only heated. I like the style of the seat but prefer the cooling option on the standard seats.

Am glad your appreciative, exactly the same as fitted in my car!

Here's a couple of pics of mine fitted.

As has been stated they are not cooled/ventilated just heated, but in the UK I've never felt the need to cool my @rse in 38yrs of driving :D by way of example at the height of our Summer here today it hit 19c/66f

And no they aren't for sale :)

Superb !

When taking in consideration the rrp of the xk its a shame this interior wasn't a standard item , I've always felt like the standard interior didn't quite live up to my 'Jaguar' expectations.

However regardless someone out there is going to have the rare opportunity to upspec their beautiful Cat !!

Not cheap, though!

Or one could go all out and bag these super rare diamond stitch seats ...😉😉

The seats were standard in the outgoing Dynamic I did look at a couple with that ivory (?) interior but have found black so much easier to keep looking like new. So a scuff is masked by judicious application of a permenant black marker pen :D

That notwithstanding, for those 'laundry changing' moments (and you will have some in dynamic/sport even with good rubber) any deposits on the seats are just a wipe away...not so with perforations where you'll be there for hours picking out all the holes of the seat base with a pin :(

Your wife is right. A sure sign of lack of love. Can you imagine any of us driving around in our XKs with that hideous mess on the tailgate? I always think wheel conditions is a good indicator of TLC too. If I accidentally scuff a wheel, next day I book an appointment with the wheel shop to get it fixed. Would feel bad driving around with scraped-up rims. I suspect a lot of other Members here feel the same. It's a sign the car has been well looked after IMO. If the PO can't be bothered to service his wheels, what else has he let slip, maybe where you can't so easily see it?

I'm about to do the whole seat swap. Can anyone advise on airbag programming? Anyway- would an original airbag fit into a performance seat to avoid it?

jahummer 01-20-2021 07:37 AM

This is interesting as I've not seen any SRS settings in CCF (I was was looking there for a way to disable SRS for race seats).

tmich 05-14-2021 11:12 AM

Did a swap. No programming needed for airbags (performance seats vs sport & luxury seats). In my case I needed to swap my original harness - as my US car has different pins for seats vs harness of UK seats I bought (and it was not a problem of RHD vs LHD).
Regarding your racing seats - I believe it's fairly easy to find a proper resistor to have airbag light off.

But I'm still struggling with heated seats vs heated and cooled seats. It's not a plug and play. For now I don't have heating and don't have a clear idea how to have it... Good thing is - it's a summer car. I would be more motivated to fight for cooled seats... ;)

jahummer 05-14-2021 01:38 PM

Resistors yes, but possibly still an issue with the weight sensor in the passenger seat.

Good news though is the SRS system remains completely functional even if the light’s on due to missing air bags.

tmich 05-14-2021 02:08 PM

For sure you can trick an OCS. Another 3 pins socket and one more resistor to attach :)

But what is this fight for - passenger front airbag (with OCS tricked which will explode everytime a front collision occurs- launching driver airbag) and seat belt.

MarkyUK 05-14-2021 02:57 PM

Tmich did you have a chance to weigh he outgoing seats against the replacements?

tmich 05-14-2021 03:51 PM

Don't care about weight of seats. Full vs almost empty tank "costs" me more of weight for sure. But they are rather similar (was taking in and out both of them couple of times). So difference is max 2-5kg each seat.

MarkyUK 05-14-2021 04:13 PM

True but had estimated with no cooling and the cut-outs and less padding it would be at least 8-10kg.

Don't get me wrong most jaguar owners are...erm...stout, whereas I'm 71kg/156lbs and have maintained that for 38yrs

My interior pics in post 24#

tmich 05-14-2021 04:27 PM

Cooling is not so big. 30-40cm of plastic pipes and a small blower.
Performance seats are definitely thicker (less room behind a seat) and taller.

Frankly - I would bet that they are at pair or performance seats are a little heavier.

Can easily (well, maybe not that easily :)) check weight of normal seats as I have them outside. But not planning taking out performance seats now.
