$100k is a steal, they sell for $135k in top shape.

I have been shopping for a fhc here in US. Generally they sell at a substantial discount to the roadsters. I don't agree with the discount -- to me the fhc is a prettier car.

I had the same reaction as you did to the feel of these cars. The steering, brakes and transmission are problems you notice right away. There are fixes, however. You might consider a power steering kit. A few of these cars were fitted with a brake booster, so you can indeed fit one, and Wilwood offers modern brakes. Finally Guy Broad's newsletters discuss switching the gearbox for a Gertrag (BMW) box. Apparently he has done about 250 of these upgrades. If you prefer to stick with Jaguar components, there was a Borg Warner automatic in some of these cars. Supposedly it was installed in most fhc's but I am having trouble finding one. John

I can't believe my eyes, changing a XK140 because you don't like the steering, trans or brakes? That's the soul of the car, if you want it to drive like a modern car buy a XK8.
