1997 missfire, LIMP MODE.. HELP!

Hi,
My 1997 Xk8 is missfiring and going into limp mode and finally stalling. At first, it would only happen if I didn't drive the car for a few day.. Then it would happen if I would start the car cold, and then turn it off fast. I heard this was caused by fuel flooding?(and it could be reflashed?) Otherwise, the car runs perfect.

But as of last night, the miss fire hasn't gone away. I don't know where to start.

A little background. I have had the tensioners done a while back and the car has about 110k. The OBD2 cannot connect with scanners, so I'm left confused. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect, it runs good for about 5 min...then again. Any help as to where I could start??

O2 sensor, mass air flow, any other sensor?

Unable to connect OBDII . . . points to ECM.

Until you can read codes you are lost. Have you tried a different OBD reader?

I just took it for a test drive, it drove perfect...this is nuts. The ECM, how much would that cost? I have tried about 6 different scanners, none have trully worked. The problem sounds like it could be a sensor, but wich one.

Your OBD II plug has a power supply. Have you checked the fuse?

The actual scanner powers up when connected. Is there another power source for it that I should be looking for?? There is a company in ebay that rebuilds ECU's, I'm giving them a ring in the morning.

I am unable to find it but one of the contacts in the plug does supply power to the unit when it is plugged in. Not sure if you will get a reaction on the unit without it. Have you checked in the owner’s manual for the fuse locations?

Yes, checked all the fuses. There isn't a specific fuse for the OBD2 port, should there be?

I am unable to find the one I was looking for but this might help OBD II Connector Pinout Note pin #16 is power.
