Hi All,

I have 1 '99 XK8 in pristine condition under 75,000 miles.
Only problem is that it sat for 5 and half weeks with an oil leak that I was not aware of. When I took it for a drive it died and now it needs a new engine. I want to sell but have no idea what I can expect to get for it.

Any thoughts.

Pristine condition (and that is a subjective word) You are looking at $3-$4K with a bad engine MAX.

Put a used engine in for $2-3K and you can sell it in the $8-$10K range.

I would replace the engine and keep it- if you are patient, deals for used motors are out there and you could get it done for under $2K.

 

I would think you would have noticed an oil leak big enough to drain 7 quarts in 5 weeks. Are you sure the engine is toast?

What are you basing this diagnosis on? If it's just a CEL and restricted performance, more likely your battery got too low in that time and is causing glitches.
