Default 2000 XK8 - Convertible hydaulic line replacement

I purchased my 2000 XK8 in Sep 2012, it had 13k original, 1 owner miles. I have had problems with it going into Fail Safe Engine Mode and Reduced Performance, and Track not Available, but the biggest problem I am dealing with right now is the hydraulic lines on the convertible top. We purchased replacement lines off of eBay and my husband took great care to replace them (based on a lot of information from this Forum, thank you!). However, after adjusting the pet **** on the hydraulic pump yesterday, now the engine won't start. Lights are on, windows go up and down, but the engine will not start. Is there a sequencing that he may have altered? We live in Mount Dora, FL and would appreciate any help on this. The car has been down for over a month now and I would really like to get it back on the road for convertible weather!

Hi Karen and welcome.

Is the engine turning over and not starting? Or do you turn the key and hear nothing?

Karen,
We also had the no-start problem with our 2000, after frequent fail-safe issues. Finally discovered the throttle body to be the culprit, even so far as having some oxidation on the throttle plate. Reading this forum, led me to conclude that the most frequent cause of fail-safe mode is the throttle body. Good luck.

Are you saying that the starter will turn the engine but the engine will not start or the starter will not turn the engine?
