2001 xkr TB confusion
In preparation for my springtime modifictions I was looking into sending my TB out to get bored. Issue being I like to have everything ready to go with minimal downtime. So I been looking to buy a TB to send out to get bored so I can do the swap relatively quickly. Ive already ported my inlet for use with the later model SC along with the rotors being recoated and various pieces hydro dipped and or powdercoated. (I basically had a spare of everything BUT the TB),
Now looking on ebay I'm a bit confused as to which TB my car has. There seems to be one with a little canister on the side and one without. My car is at the shop getting my bumper resprayed so I cant look at it at this very moment (brand new paint someone taps me in the rear). Which one is it? is the xkr/xjr different then the xj/xk? One very confused jaguar owner here |
no one?

Can't say for sure, but as far as I know there is only 1 main version for the AJ27 engines. The NA engine has air assisted injectors, and these have that little canister you mention, but that can be removed/closed of as far as I can remember for the supercharged engines.

Here's the old and new TB on my 2001 XK8:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...p;d=1456133651 This is what I'd describe as the 'later' type for 2000 onwards. The 'early' type for 1996-99 models looks like this: Attachment 125899 You should have the 'later' type but don't guess - check! Graham |

Hi.
Here are some extracts from JEPC, both for XK8 and XJ. As you see there is a change in part number for the XK8 at VIN A17614, but not for the XKR. |
Ill have to wait till I get my car back. I don't recall the little air assist for injectors (never ever heard of that before) but I suppose rather same than sorry. Then of course still looking forward to my Autorotor swap on my xjr....That should be fun:O)

Do yourself a favor and call local Jaguar dealer with your Vin # and get the part number from them. That way you are sure of what you are looking for.

Its really a shame we are stuck with this itty bitty TB. I checked and I do have the non air assisted one. I've been playing with supercharged factory cars since the Thunderbird SC with the itty bitty m90 Eaton. And even that tiny v6 with that tiny SC is restricted even in stock for with less than an 85mm TB 3.5" air intake and 90mm or so TB...It just kills me knowing that no matter what I can reasonably do....My Jag will always be restricted.!! Anyways..Again thanks. Now to send my TB's to Maxbore
