It just occurred to me what may have happened here, you had a tire losing air, the shop thought the rim was split so tightened the spider bolts like lug nuts hoping to stop the leak until they stripped. The entire time, the loss of air was caused by the inflation bolt o-ring, which they had no idea existed. Just a guess. Since the spider bolts are low torque, they stripped em but quick. They owe you at least for the machine shop work to repair the drum.

Hardy, the tire Guy!!!

Hello----Hardy!

Just for grins....which BBS Wheel do you have on your Black 2003 Jaguar XKR Convertible? Montreal or Detroit.....I noticed somewhere the other day that the Detroit's were going for around $750.00.....That's a good price if yours can't be repaired..... Remember, just in case...the Front's are 9" wide and the Rear's are 10" wide....Therefore, the Tires for these Wheel's are of different sizes also....Be darn sure, if you have to buy a Wheel, that they are the right width..................

Good Luck!

Billy Clyde

P.S. Try www.Originalwheels.com as they have some Montreal's for around $650.00

Hardy,

Is this the Wheel that you are having the problem with? and what did you do to get it to work? Mine never would go through....

This wheel is the BBS "Montreal"!

Billy Clyde

Hroberts 11-22-2018 08:23 PM

That’s the bad one alright. Some of those bolts that hold it together were shearing off and some were backing out. The tire then loses air and there’s a danger of the darn thing coming apart on the open road.

What i I have done about it is talk to you
nice folks on here and beg for help. I’m going to call some of those leads you gave me and see if I can get a new/or used wheel also go down to Nashville and talki to some alloy wheel specialists down there. I’m still getting around in the car with a donut spare, but obviously that’s a stop gap.
Happy Thanksgiving

My left Front Wheel...20" BBS "Montreal"

Hardy, I've done this a 100 times but for the last week, I haven't been able to get it to work!!!! I'll try you directions now...Hopefully you will see my left Front Wheel...(Well! It worked this time......Thanks for the directions!)
By looking at your Wheel, it appears that the Wheel part must be bent or something like that....It just doesn't look smooth as this one below. That's really smart isn't it? I don't have any idea what cold have happened....maybe that's why the Guy before you sold it! After you get it repaired, you need to get a set of Jaguar Locking Nuts----You only need (4)!

Hroberts 11-24-2018 03:16 PM

You don’t have any extra of those lying around do you😉?

Your wheel indeed looks much smoother, and altho I’ve had this car 9 years, what you say could be true, some of those sheared bolts looked like they’d been that way for a while - so said the tire guy.

Gonna try Nashville next week, wish me luck and thanks for YOUR assistance.

Hardy

In looking at the picture, the bolts don't look like the original bolts but its hard to tell. Keep in mind that only the hollow inflation bolt has anything to do with holding air in the tire. It is drilled through the wheel drum so the air will move in and out of the tire. All the others should not penetrate the wheel drum.

Might be a good time to reach out to one of the more reputable pro's out there. Will likely involve shipping, estimates, etc, but likely to have a proper permanent solution (for a price).

I have used Ye Old Wheel Shop near Baltimore a number of years ago. Ye Old Wheel Shop

I have also come across Wheel Collision Center. They claim inventory as well as a range of repair services. BRILLIANT MONTREAL

Hroberts 11-26-2018 08:26 AM

I know Baltimore pretty well - my wife is from Catonsville.

Thanks for these leads, heading to Nashville this week maybe. You are so right that it’s now in the world of a specialist which I ain’t! 😉

Gonna give these guys a call in case they can help.

Many thanks and Happy Holidays,
Hardy
