2006 XK (x150) convertible, roof not sealing at the back, vicious wind noise
I've been trying to track down both a whistling wind noise and a higher pitch noise that sounds like a dying cricket at speeds over say 90. All the seals and rubber are perfect. I do notice that the driver back side of the roof is not meeting the back sill, so even though the rubber seals behind are fine, I suspect that wind is entering at speed and resonating between the roof and the inter liner. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can the roof shrink with age to cause a gap? Can it be restretched so that it goes flush with the car?

I would apply some Sylglide lubricant to the rubber seals where they meet, then drive the car and see if that helps....

2jags, confused. Do you have an X100 or an X150? This is the X100 forum.
If it's a typo and you have an X100 let us know. I bet many of us, including myself, skipped your question thinking you have a different car. If so it'd be a blind guess for those of us without an X150. Let us know. that notwithstanding, can you open the area (window?) Slip in a strip of paper, close it up, see if paper slips out too easy anywhere? = air leak spot John |
+1
I see you have already posted about this issue in X150 forum: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...d-noise-69549/ Is this the same vehicle or a similar issue on your XKR (X100)? Graham |
thanks, I will try that. Although the seals look perfect, maybe there is some fine slippage a grease will help.

the latter wasn't my post although I did see it and found it helpful. I have an X100 which fortunately is quieter, but this is indeed about my X150 cabrio.

Sorry, I am somehow in the wrong forum. I do have an X100 but this is about my x150 (and thank you for the suggestion).
