Need help with understanding the logic for the battery charge indication system on my 1997 XK8. Let me say upfront this is a conversion project, so the original system has been adapted into a GM system. I’ve used the original SW (gray/white stripe), charge indication wire (as suggested in conversion instructions) with a 1000 Ohm resistor connected (have also connected without resistor and left open with no change), to a switched 12v power source (used the pink/white stripe wire), but the red light in the charge meter and a battery not charging indication remain on. I have checked at the battery (with meter), and with the car running the voltage in ~14.4v.
My question is what are those indicators looking for to recognize charge?
Thanks

Try connecting the grey/white wire going to the instrument cluster to ground. Make sure nothing else is connected to this wire.Originally Posted by deelli

Thanks for your response...tried grounding the gray/white wire today, no change in the indications.Originally Posted by WhiteXKR
