Unhappy brake light failing

The yearly technical inspection is due.
I found my right hand side brake light not working.
Assumed a fast fix by replacing the lightbulb. No it wasn 't.
Measured the ground wich was ok, no signal on the power wire (3th wire on the lightasembly connector) .
Removing the lamp triggerd the alarm on the display.
So before going on a lenghty chase, any idea and advice is welcome?
Looked in the electricity diagrams, but I am not skilled enough to find for example the fuses, or the pedal switch...

Thanks on beforehand,
Regards,
Luc

Check the fuses. Also have you added the additional ground wire.

We have had to add additional ground wire on early model xk's. When adding the extra ground wire all you are doing is mounting a wire to the metal board on the brake light panel. mine was just riveted on the panel. the other end there was a loop crimp put on the end of the wire then that was bolted to the metal interior of the trunk. I think there are threaded stand offs next to the brake lights you can attach the wire to once you have the ground attached to the metal of the brake light.

Thanks, will take that in account.
In the mean time found out on the electrical schema that for each brake light there is a seperate 5A fuse in the fusebox in the back of the trunk.
Going to check that out first.

As Daddyo007 mentioned, it was a mass wire wich was broken somewhere in the cable tree. A lot of messuring to find it, but the electrical schema helped a lot.
So a tanks to daddyo007.
