Broken Door Handle Question

Ive searched and came up with little info. Can I just remove the door handle chrome piece itself? Seems mine cracked today and being cars custom painted well....Looks like others have done the same but none has followed up. :( Always something

Do you mean the chrome interior door handle or do you have a chromed lift on the outside handle?

In either case, you won't be able to remove it from the outside and not without removing the assembly from the car first.

Door panel comes off and then it's either bolts for the outside one, or a slip connection for the inside.

sorry guys. outside chrome handle. I know to remove the handle assembly I need to remove door panel etc. I was curies as to just replacing the chrome handle portion and not entire piece as I have custom paint that wont likely match

Found a picture of a handle and looking at the back of it I imagine you can replace just the chrome part if you take it all apart.

I doubt you will be able to buy just the chrome vs the whole assembly, but you probably expected that part.

The lift handle has to pivot on a rod (arrowed in red) which should knock out with a drift.

After seeing the photos Ill just go pick one up and see what I can do..Be it pin rivet or threaded rod Im sure I can get it to work. Cant believe it just snapped like it did

It was a regular fault with the early XJ40's but you look to have been unlucky with the same thing happening on an XKR - it's usually the latch microswitches that fail on this model!
