Changing Front Engine Mounts
Are there any instructions for changing front motor mounts? 2000 XK8 Convertible.
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jag...d27f78605.jpeg My buddies 2000 XK8 needs the front engine mounts changed, one is leaking the other is collapsed and dry as a bone. I have found several right ups on changing the rear mounts but nothing for the front. They look fairly straight forward but I always like to check ahead for and suggestions that you experts can suggest. |
Easy - support the engine, undo the bolts, lift engine a bit, swap mounts, lower engine, install bolts.

Those are not the engine mounts, those are the front subframe mounts. It's significantly more complicated. You will have to drop the subframe. And those don't contain fluid. What you're seeing is a motor oil leak, possibly from the timing cover or the harmonic balancer seal.

As Gian stated, front crossmember bushes.
l replaced mine several years ago, with crossmember in place, it can be done but would consider dropping the front end if doing the job again. they originally had a plastic body which makes it possible to "dig" them out with sharp chisel. #2 in pic. 290 pounds sterling each ??? That is insane, though that does include VAT....
Even Lamborghini charge less than 80 pounds for their equivalent part. Small wonder that Jaguar went down the pan. |

I bought them from SNG Barratt, but don't remember paying anywhere near that amount. I don't think I went with the OE because of the price. I haven't had a problem with them in the past 3 years since I replaced them. |

Thank you for the information it is significantly better to find that out.

SNG Barrett USA are listing that part at $407 each (or $55 for a MaitaiHoPong after market part) , I'll schedule a kidney broker appointment before I do that job.
