So the little cheap chrome rings on my rear taillights cracked. I removed my taillights, epoxied them somewhat back together and reinstalled. Now I get the "check taillights" whenever I hot the brake. All lights are working fine as they had prior to removal. I'm assuming the car saw they were unplugged. But obviously isn't seeing they are plugged in now. This is all I did. Remove reinstall. Is this something that needs to cycle a bunch of times before it goes away? Its only been a day. Thanks!

Perform a hard reset... Maybe even partial.
Disconnect the battery and pinch the neg and pos cable together for an hour or something, reconnect and start her up, see what happens.
Some folks say that you can touch the negative/ground/black cable to the positive terminal for a few seconds - but I've never had the courage to do that... Go figure. Had enough courage to buy and work on a Jaguar 3yrs ago, but to this very day, won't do that, lol.
See what others say...
I have a pita situation with a "check rear lights" message on the dash I have had NO LUCK in solving. Has to do with a resistor in the box UNDER the boot fuse panel. Hopefully, you didn't ground something out in a major way while doing your work and created a problem there... IF you did, go ahead, you can admit it... I mean, it's not like you are admitting your mistakes Toba global forum, or anything ☺️

Remove the connectors and with a soft wire brush clean the contacts on each side of the connector. The examine the wire side of the connector. The contacts are L shaped copper strips. With a small screwdriver pry each one close to the center of the of the gap. Usually the end contact is heat distorted and requires some straightening.
The ground connector is the weak point and causes the check bulb fault when the bulbs are good.
