What is the best way to remove the windshield top plate? I see there are two plastic caps that appear to cover fasteners at the ends of the plate. I cannot seem to pry them free and I do not want to muck things up.

There are hidden screws under the edge of the rubber seal at each end of the top plate. Pry the glued on seal a bit to see them.

Is this the seal you are talking about. I assumed the round piece was a push in clip to hold the seal end in place. Here is a picture.

Hi, I think this will answer the question above, and a few others. Enjoy https://www.jaguarforum.com/showthre...=1#post1094300
You will let me know if it does resolve your issues wont you? |
Hi, You seem to be an experienced electrical guy. Maybe you could help design an electrical replacement for the top latch on 1997-2005 XK8s?
Someone on this forum says that the 2006 XK8s use an electric system. Regards, Ronald29609 |
Hi guys,
There is a lot of postings on this topic! I had a 'Green Shower'. Bit of a surprise to say the least. To save any hassle with pressure relief vales etc etc I took the easy/lazy option of buying aftermarket hoses. Better and stronger, not to mention cheaper. Also did a sort of 'how to' as I went along. Some browsing this topic may find it of use at a later date, oh and if you do use it a 'thank you' on the page would be nice. :icon_biggrin: So this is my thread, enjoy. Click me to jump to topic There are also posts before and after you may find useful too. :icon_beerchug: |
Thank you for your great and detailed posting.
If the manual release key is missing, what size Allen wrench do you use instead? Thanks, Dave |
6mm but it has been awhile. Have an 8mm handy just in case.

Thanks!
