ive run into a conundrum here. The patient is. 2001 Xk8.
Only the temp guage and trip counter iluminate.
Removed the cluster and replaced the dark bulbs with bulbs fron a 2003 cluster.
Same result.
Pulled it out again and moved the good known bulbs to other locations and now all are dark.
All guages work, message center works and dims with rheostat.

Stumped. Help.

 

Get some new bulbs. These bulbs have a nasty habit of failing or going intermittent when handled and rotated after years of riding around in the same position.

I know it seems improbable, but I have seen it a number of times.
