Default dash lights always on => low battery

My instrument lights are on bright all the time even with the key off, and my battery is not liking this lol.
I have had the gauge cluster fixed twice now and it worked good for about three weeks the last time, any ideas what else it could be or a temp fix in till I can find a good used replacement cluster.
Thanks in advance jon, 1998 xk8 conv

Can you clarify...is it the nighttime backlights or all the indicators that are on?

Just the nighttime backlights and the gauge "needle-pointers" are lit up. The dimmer switch will only change the mileage- info center of the dash and not dim the back-lights.

Try removing fuse #18 on the passenger side of the dash. This will disable all battery powered interior dimmer comtrolled lighting. See if that stops the drain temporarily until you repair or replace the cluster, which seems to have an internal short of some sort.

Thanks pulling that 5amp fuse did he job. I will just pull that fuse when I'm not driving.
My half full tank of gas went to full with the fuse pulled, do not know about the temp gage.
Nice to be on the road again, thanks
