Here's one for the "don't do this" file. Yesterday was liberation day in the Netherlands and I spent the day with my parents
rehearing the stories of what it was like in Holland during the war. I had a few wobbly pops and on the drive home I was stopped
by Johnny Law. While I was fumbling around for the insurance papers I accidently knocked the lens off the glove box light.
No problem I thought, I have a tube of crazy glue in the car, I'll just glue the tab back on while I wait for Johnny to run my papers.
What I didn't realize is that I had spilled a drop on the passenger seat and when I put the lens back on I glued my leather jacket
to the seat. Pulling on my sleeve to get it loose before the officer got back I left a small patch of my jacket sleeve on the seat.https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/i...con_bricks.gif
Does anyone out there know what I can use to get the crazy glue off the seat? On a positive note the officer saw the whole
performance and thought it was quite hilarious. We talked about the car for a few minutes as he had never seen one before
and he sent me on my way.

1) acetone dissolves it.
2) congratulations you get the award for the best story/don't do what I did post I've ever read!

Someone mentioned it recently, I endorse the idea of making a perpetual dont do this / dont do what I did thread like the what did you work on today thread. It somehow makes the author feel better, gives us all a heads up (and maybe a bit of a smile too).

I have to admit that this post was inspired by your "don't do what I did" post. I just couldn't find it to add on to it.
I agree that this should be a sticky or something like the jokes section. I've never been the smartest peanut in
the t**d and it always makes me feel better when I see that I'm not the only one. :icon_drink:

Acetone will dissolve it, as mentioned, but can also take the colour off the leather so be careful.

To add to the 'don't do this' theme, I disconnected an aircon pipe in the full belief that the system had leaked itself empty. It hadn't. I got covered in bright green/yellow dye (the stuff for tracing leaks) and looked like I'd just robbed a security van. Also I had a green engine bay. Doh!

Bladerunner, you should have a "Don't read this while drinking coffee" warning on this one!

Gotta go clean my shirt.

The safest product I know of for removing superglue (cyanoacrylate) is Golden West Super Solvent:

It smells like it may be citrus oil-based. I purchase it at our local Woodcraft store. I don't know if it is available in the Netherlands.

Loctite also makes a cyanoacrylate solvent, but I have never used it so I don't know how safe it might be for leather. You could test it in an inconspicuous area.

WD40 will actually release glues but, again, I'd be worried about it soaking into the leather.
