Front Shock lower bushing

While I was cleaning an ASC speed sensor (yet again), I noticed that the front lower shock bushings were shot. Just a black sticky mess. Everything else looks fine, so I am looking to buy a couple of replacements.

It seems that Jaguar OEM bushings are about $150 for a pair,, but does anyone have any experience with the much cheaper URO Parts bushings?

I know that you tend to get what you pay for, but that is why I am asking.

Many thanks,

I went the route of replacing the bushings on my front shocks. Got them from Welsh for about $35 each and were good quality.

My writeup with pics is here

After going through the process, I doubt I would do it again considering new shocks with bushings are less than $100 each at Rock Auto.

Malcom, don't forget that the entire shock costs $100 and it comes with a lower bush.

Hmm, have you checked the upper strut bearings? There have been report lately of early after market bearings literally turning to mush, and dripping a black sticky mess. Just a thought.

Best of luck, keep us posted.

I installed URO bushings in the rear but only have a few hundred miles on them.

I replaced my front shocks several thousand miles ago with Bilsteins from partsgeek that were the same price and I doubt they had $75 bushings. No problem so far.

Check the English Ebay, I found several places that sell them for $20 or less and shipping is not terrible.
I did a write up on doing them on the car, not something recommended, without the large ball joint type pusher/puller and a few assorted sockets.
Much easier in a vise or on the bench.

I just replaced with SNG Barrett around $22ea. They appear to be be good quality with sealed swivels. I chose to keep my electric shocks. They also have packer rings if needed.

Thanks Dr. D, did not know they were carrying the reduced price ones. Have a couple of shock pairs laying around that are good, just need the lower bushing replaced.
We have a few members get together to work on their cars once in a while and you are welcome to come and watch or supervise, be glad to have you.
Can always look for a better way.
Next meeting is February 7th, weather permitting, but it's on those old "S" type upper control arms. UGH, that should get a rise from Jon89.
