I am new to forum and guess this is something others have suffered from.

The gear lever will not budge and can only be released by using the manual override. BUT every time you stop this has to be released again.

I would like to know what has to be done or looked at to resolved.

If it helps the dashboard speedometer and instruments have not been activating either at this time. This may be a separate problem.

 

Gear lever will not move, usually the gearbox switch stopped working. Dashboard not working, can be faulty wiring/dodgy instrument module.
