Default Has anyone ever changed the bulb on the roof switch

Hi

I'm trying to change the bulb on my roof switch. Jaguar XKR 2000 model, convertible of course.

I've removed the wooden gear lever surround with the switch on but underneath the bottom part of the switch is clipped into the plastic panel but surrounded by a metal bracket which looks very hard to remove without causing damage.

Just wondering if anyone has done this task.

Kind Regards

They can be removed without destroying the plastic tray. The tray is tougher than you think, just be careful and go slow... and even if you do break it, they aren't too difficult to come by.

The bulb on the other hand, never done, and can't help you with how that works.

My roof switch falls out all on its own. It just has plastic ridges on the ends that grip (sort of) the plastic tray. I had to stuff some cardboard in with it so it wouldn't keep falling down inside. I never replaced the buib though.

Thanks

All managed to get sorted.

The worry I had was causing damaged by removing this metal bracket which was securing the switch in place but I managed to do it.

Apparently not all XKs have this metal surround, it's just extra protection for securing the switch. Jag must of had problems with the switch unclipping if pressed to hard.

Managed to remove switch, strip down and change the bulb.
