Default Has anyone renewed transmission fluid this way?

I know that transmission fluid changes have been beat to death on here but I am wondering if anyone has used a method similar to the change method on the X-type. I changed the pan, filter and fluid about 10,000 km ago and would like to do a couple more changes to get more of the new fluid in it than old. It was so messy doing it the first time with warming it up and waiting for overflow that I thought I might try another method. I want to drain the fluid and measure accurately what comes out. Then I would like to jack the car up high on the fill plug side like you do to change the fluid in an X-type and then just replace the same amount that was drained. The plug should be high enough that nothing will spill.I have checked carefully and I have no leaks and the transmission is working fine. Has anyone ever done it this way?

Don't see why not, if you are confident the level is correct at present?

Sounds legit to me. I'm thinking I may do the same method as well...after making sure it's right after the first time as was said above.

That method has had some success with X Type transmissions, but as Joesoap says, it depends on the level being correct in the first place. The Jaguar approved method for changing the X Type box fluid is pretty much the same as the XKs!
You'll probably be OK as you've presumably got the level right from your recent change. Make sure the oil added is the same temperature as the oil drained.

I'll be doing this all at garage temperature, but good point.
