Default HID Ballast, how easy to change?

I'm not skilled enough to download the JTIS on my 64bit laptop.
I may need to change a HID ballast. FAQ answer not detailed enough for me. Does the whole headlight unit have to be removed? If so how? Thanks.

I haven't had to do this replacement ............... YET!

There's three sections in JTIS covering the Ballast change procedure with HID's:

JTIS - XK8 Headlamp Assembly.pdf

JTIS - XK8 HID Ballast.pdf

JTIS - XK8 HID Headlamp Adjustment.pdf

I have done adjustment and you may find the adjuster is worn and doesn't click into place for adjustment. However, a bit movement will get the position where adjustment can be made.

Many thanks Graham. I had the LH HID fail while driving. Switched off the engine when I got home, then on again to put the car in the garage and the lights worked ok. So a bit suspect. I found a replacement Ballast from here.

£251 from Jaguar in the UK so that's a good deal you've found.

It's still worth checking connections before splashing the cash. They aren't handed so you can switch left to right to eliminate harness problems as the cause.
